Running a sole-trader business means you are the person who books the job, does the job, takes the money and keeps the record. Sulit Suites handles the booking and the payment record so the only part left for you is the work.
One-person businesses that invoice, take deposits and need clean records: tradespeople, therapists, cleaners, consultants, instructors.
The problem
Deposits arrive by bank transfer with no reference, cash is written on a notepad, and the question at the end of the quarter is which jobs were actually paid. Sole traders need a booking tool that produces a payment record as a side effect.
The workflow
- List your services with prices and durations. Set each one to a deposit, full payment, or a manual method such as cash or bank transfer. See Payments.
- Connect Stripe once. Online payments go to your own Stripe account and are paid out to your bank on Stripe's schedule. Sulit Suites never holds your money.
- Each payment, refund and manual record sits against its booking, with an emailed receipt the client can find again in the portal.
- Use client notes and booking history to remember the job, the address and the last price. See Client Management.
- On Pro, advanced analytics shows bookings, revenue and utilisation over time.
Fees you can explain
Stripe charges a processing fee on card payments on every plan. On Free, Sulit Suites adds a small fee only on online payments above a threshold; on Solo and Pro there is no Sulit Suites transaction fee at all, and cash and bank-transfer payments never carry one. The exact figures are on Pricing, read from the same rule the checkout enforces.
Limits to know about
- Sulit Suites issues receipts for payments taken through it. It is not an invoicing or accounting system and does not prepare tax documents.
- Payments are in Australian dollars.
- Refunds are started by you from the booking; there is no client self-service refund.
- Exporting client lists is not a current capability.
Questions from sole traders
- Can clients pay cash on the day?
- Yes. Set the service to a manual method and record the payment against the booking when it happens. No Sulit Suites fee applies.
- Does Sulit Suites hold my money?
- No. Online payments are charged on your own Stripe account and paid out by Stripe to your bank. Sulit Suites is software, not a bank or payment processor.
- What happens to the Sulit Suites fee if I refund?
- It is returned in the same proportion as the refund: fully for a full refund, proportionally for a partial one.
